Sarjis Alam, one of the co-ordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, said that the student society will put pressure on the interim government if there are any mistakes. He said this after seeing the latest situation of 140 people injured in the agitation under treatment at Pangu Hospital in the capital on Tuesday (August 20).
At this time, the injured in the movement are still not getting enough support, Sarjis Alam said, due to the violence of the red tape, there is a delay in the government assistance. I am also calling on various individuals and institutions to come forward to help the injured.
He said that the members of the anti-discrimination student movement will contact the helpers with the injured. They will not hand over any money. At this time, an organization named MH Global Group provided financial assistance to the injured.
Incidentally, on August 4, around one round of the anti-discrimination student movement, hundreds of people were killed in clashes with government-backed leaders and activists and the police across the country, including in Dhaka. In addition to 13 in Enayetpur police station of Sirajganj, 14 policemen including one policeman of highway police station were killed in a separate attack in Elliotganj of Comilla.
The general students of various universities have been protesting since the first of July to demand reform of the quota system for entering government jobs. In this situation, on July 15, Chhatra League repeatedly attacked ordinary students in some universities including the capital Dhaka. At the same time, the police opened fire to quell the students' agitation.
Several hundreds of students and ordinary people died in the attack on students by the police and Awami League and its affiliates. In this situation, Sheikh Hasina left the country at around 2.30 pm on August 5 in the face of protests and agitations by students and common people. Then the army took over the responsibility of the country.
