Case application against 367 people including Sheikh Hasina in Mymensingh

A case has been filed in the name of 367 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed, in connection with the killing of farmer Saiful Islam (37) of Mymensingh's Phulpur Upazila during the anti-discrimination student movement. Member Secretary of Mymensingh District Northern Farmers Party Shah Mohammad Ali appealed the case.

On Tuesday (August 20) around 3:30 pm, a hearing was held on the application of the case in the court of Judicial Magistrate Iqbal Hossain of No. 6 Amli Court of Mymensingh. Mymensingh Court Inspector. Sofikur Rahman confirmed the matter.

Safikur Rahman said, after the hearing, the judge has ordered the OC of Phulpur police station to submit a report within the next five days on whether a case has already been filed in this incident.

The deceased Saiful Islam is the son of Taiyab Ali, a farmer of Chak Dhakir Kanda village of Rahimganj Uni in Phulpur upazila.

The names of 67 people including former road and bridge minister Obaidur Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former upazila chairman Habibur Rahman have been mentioned in the petition. 250 to 300 people have been named as accused.

According to the source of the case, Saiful Islam went to Amuakanda market in Phulpur municipal area to sell rice at around 12:50 pm on July 20. Meanwhile, anti-discrimination student activists were marching. Later, leaving the police behind, accused number 6 to 67 of the statement attacked the crowd with country and firearms. Saiful Islam was shot and killed. Accused number 6 to 67 and unknown accused shot and killed Saiful Islam on the instigation of accused number 1 to 5 of the case.

It is known that the sub-inspector (SI) of Phulpur police station, Shahadat Hossain Munna, filed a murder case against 50-60 unknown people on July 23 as a plaintiff in the murder of farmer Saiful Islam.
