Sajjad murder: Case against Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehena

A case has been filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana, including 57 people, in the shooting of vegetable seller Sajjad Hossain in front of the Raja Rammohan Club in Rangpur on July 19 during the quota reform movement. Another 300 accused have been made unknown.

Jitu Begum, the wife of the deceased, filed the case in the Rangpur court as the plaintiff. The judge directed the OC of Rangpur Kotwali police station to register the case.

Raju Ahmed Babu, Additional Chief Metropolitan Court of Rangpur, gave this order on Tuesday (August 20) around 3:30 pm.

Plaintiff's lawyer Mofazzal Hossain Bakul said, 'During the quota reform movement on July 19, there was a clash between the protesters and the police. Police opened fire to suppress the movement. Sajjad, a vegetable seller of Shalbon area, was shot and killed.

The other accused in the case are- Former Roads and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Law Minister Nisul Haque, State Minister for Information A Arafat, Hasanul Haque Inu, Naemul Islam Khan, Rashed Khan Menon, former Rangpur Member of Parliament Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury Duke, Zakir Hossain Govt. , Asaduzzaman Bablu, Badarganj Mayor Tutul Chowdhury, 57 people including former IGP and 8 police officers. 300 unnamed people have been accused.

Incidentally, police and quota reform activists clashed in front of Kailasharanjan High School adjacent to Raja Rammohan in Rangpur city on Friday afternoon on July 19. At that time, Sajjad Hossain was shot and died. The next day, Saturday at 10 am, he was buried in the graveyard next to the Kailasaranjan High School ground after the Janaza at the Bismillah Jame Masjid. The deceased Sajjad has a daughter named Sinha.
