A.League leader of Lakshmipur Kabir detained in Dhaka

Awami League leader Humayun Kabir Patwari, one of the accused in Sabbir's murder case in Lakshmipur, has been arrested from Dhaka.

On Tuesday (August 20) night, students from Bashundhara area of ​​the capital Dhaka arrested him and handed him over to the police. He is currently in the custody of Bashundhara Bhatara police station.

Laxmipur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Yachin Farooq Majumdar confirmed the matter to the media on Wednesday (August 21).

He said, the Bhatara police station confirmed to us that the students have handed over Kabir Patwari to the law enforcement agencies after arresting them. Bhatara police will hand him over to us through court. Kabir Patwari is accused in the case of murder of student Sabbir and attack on police.

Kabir Patwari is the president of Sadar Upazila Awami League and chairman of Charruhita Union Parishad. He is the uncle of District Awami League General Secretary and former Member of Parliament from Laxmipur-2 (Part of Raipur and Sadar) Nooruddin Chowdhury Nayan.

According to police sources, four students were killed in Lakshmipur on August 4 by activists of Awami League-Jubilig-Chatra League. Among them, 91 named people and 200 unidentified people were charged in the case of Sabbir Hossain Russell's murder. Sabbir's father Amir Hossain filed the case at Sadar Model Police Station as the plaintiff on August 14.

Kabir Patwari arrested in Dhaka is accused number 4 in this case. In addition, 18 people were named and 700 unidentified people were named in the attack on the police on August 4. On August 12, Sadar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Anvik Chakma filed the case as the plaintiff. Accused number 5 in this case is Kabir Patwari.
