Dhaka-Chittagong highway is submerged in knee-deep water, the suffering is extreme

Incessant rains and downpours from upstream India have submerged the Chittagong-bound lane in Chauddagram of Comilla on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. As a result, there has been a huge problem in the movement of vehicles. Heavy traffic jam has been created in 5 km area.

The traffic jams are getting longer as the day progresses, resulting in suffering for drivers and passengers. The traffic jam started early on Thursday (August 22) and is still ongoing.

It has been reported that about 2 kilometers of road from Navagram road head to Chauddagram market has been submerged in water. The sinking of the road slowed down traffic, causing a 5-km-long traffic jam.

A covered van driver said that he was hit by a traffic jam in Chauddagram at 6 am. After the ink market, the roads are knee-deep, making driving difficult and causing problems due to traffic jams.

The private car driver said he was surprised to see knee-deep water on the highway. Driving at risk of life and advised not to go on highways with small cars.

A bus driver said it took about 40 minutes to cross one kilometer of road. He expressed fear that the traffic jam will increase if there is water on the road.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mia Bazar Highway Police Station SM Lokman Hossain said that the movement of vehicles has slowed down due to water on the highway. The Highway Police is working to ease traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, due to rainfall, waterlogging has occurred in the low lying areas of Chittagong city. Various roads in the low-lying areas are submerged in water up to the knees and in some places up to the waist. As a result, people who go out for daily needs have suffered greatly.

It is known that the roads of various areas including Halishahar, Eidgah, Panchlaish, Katalganj, Chawkbazar, Muradpur, Sholakbehar, Gate No. 2, Baklia and Agrabad have been submerged in water. Some roads in these areas have waist-deep water.
