Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign from the post of Prime Minister on August 5 in the face of violent protests by students. Then fled to India in a military plane.
Many ministers and leaders of the Awami League government were surprised by the sudden resignation and departure of Sheikh Hasina.
After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government, from the then minister to members of parliament and top leaders are running away, hiding in fear. Several others have been arrested.
Talking to several leaders of Awami League, including the former minister who is in hiding, one of them said that you (Sheikh Hasina) have left us.
According to Awami League sources, his cabinet and even his close allies were completely surprised when he decided to leave. An Awami League leader said, we can know it from TV.
Another Awami League leader said, we were able to leave our house at around 3 pm when the army chief was addressing the nation. A minister of the Hasina government at that time said, if caught, I and my family would have been burnt alive.
Some leaders have expressed grief over the firing of bullets during the student protests. A leader claimed that Sheikh Hasina did not listen to us. He blamed the inner circle of Awami League for this.
Awami League leader claims that 'this gang of four' has divided Sheikh Hasina. These four include Hasina's son Sajib Wazed Joy, Salman F Rahman, Obaidul Quader and the then Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
This leader of Awami League told Indian Express that this gang led Sheikh Hasina to fall. He blindly trusted these four and lost the political presence that Sheikh Hasina had in the past.
We could understand the anger of the people but he did not listen to us – said another leader.
