Four deaths were reported in Comilla, two in Cox's Bazar, one in Feni and one in Brahmanbaria. Besides, two people have gone missing in Cox's Bazar. There are also reports of some missing in Feni.

Two drowned in flood water in Comilla. One died due to electrocution and one fell on his head. The incident took place in Comilla Nagar, Laksam, Chauddagram and Nangalkot upazilas on Wednesday.

The deceased are Keramat Ali (45), a resident of Daudpur area of ​​Nangalkot municipality, Kishore Rafi (15) of Chhota area of ​​Comilla Nagar and Shahadat Hossain (34), son of Kanu Mia of Sonakatia village of Chauddagram upazila. The identity of the child who drowned in Laksam was not immediately known.

In Cox's Bazar, Bankkhali river water is flowing over Bipatsima. Four people were swept away by the current. Around five in the afternoon, two bodies, including a child, were found, but the other two were not found.

The deceased are Amjad Hossain (22), son of Chayed Hossain of East Jumchari village of Gorznia Union in Ramur and 10-year-old daughter of Nurul Kabir, a resident of Lombripara in Fatekharkul Union.

One person died after drowning in flood water in Phulgazi upazila of Feni. His identity is unknown. A woman named Subarna Akhter (19) died after drowning in the flood water in Birchandrapur village of Akhaura in Brahmanbaria on Wednesday afternoon.

Flood situation occurred in eight districts from Wednesday. A total of 12 districts including four more districts were affected by floods on Thursday. The districts are Feni, Comilla, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Rangamati, Cox's Bazar, Laxmipur, Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Habiganj.

According to data from the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center, heavy to very heavy rains have occurred in eastern Comilla, Brahmanbaria and Feni bordering Indian Tripura and inland basins of Tripura state in the last 24 hours. The waters of Muhuri, Kahua and Ceylona rivers in Feni are flowing far above the Bipatsima with the mountain runoff from India. The overflowing river has worsened the flood situation.

KM Ali Reza, additional secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, said that 4 lakh 40 thousand 840 families are trapped in water. The number of affected people is 29 lakh 4 thousand 964. Eight people have died so far. Four in Comilla, two in Ramu in Cox's Bazar, one each in Feni and Brahmanbaria.

According to the information of the ministry, the eight flood affected districts are – Feni, Comilla, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Moulvibazar and Habiganj. 1 thousand 534 shelters have been opened. More than 75 thousand people have settled in these shelters.

Several teams of army, navy, fire service are working to rescue flood victims. Besides, various voluntary organizations are also conducting rescue operations. Control rooms have been set up by various agencies of the government to deal with the flood situation.

However, rescue operations are hampered due to loss of communication and strong current of water. With the passage of time, the desire of Banvasi people to survive in isolated areas has become stronger.
