Resignation by taking hostage in Lalmonirhat, dispute over shop rent behind the scenes

It has been alleged that the headmaster of Dakshin Jawarani Abdul Latif High School of Hatibandha Upazila of Lalmonirhat was held hostage at gunpoint and signed the resignation letter. Due to the dispute over the rent of the shop and the management committee of the school, a group made the anti-discrimination student movement an issue and this incident took place.

Jasim Uddin, headmaster of Dakshin Jawarani Abdul Latif High School, held a press conference on Thursday (August 22) afternoon seeking justice for this incident. Earlier this incident took place in that school last Wednesday (August 21) afternoon.

It is known from the written statement that for a long time, the head teacher Jasim Uddin has been in conflict with a group regarding the school's management committee. Apart from this, there is a dispute between the headmaster and Dulal Hossain, the father of a former student named Shakib, over the rent of the school shop. After the fall of the government in the face of the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5, that group engaged in more intrigues with the management committee.

On their encouragement, former student of that school, Shakib, gathered the illegitimate boy and called the headmaster, Jasim Uddin, from home. At that time, Shakib and his men held the head teacher Jasim Uddin and his son Ziad Hasan hostage in the face of indigenous weapons, and he was forced to sign the resignation letter to save his life.

Victim head teacher Jasim Uddin said, I have already submitted a written complaint to the police station seeking security. I am a victim of personal outrage. At that time, he requested the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner, Bangladesh Army and Education Advisor regarding the whole incident.

Those who forced the resignation of headmaster Jasim Uddin claimed to be activists of the anti-discrimination student movement, but the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement in Hatibandha say they do not know them. This incident has nothing to do with the anti-discrimination student movement.

Hatibandha upazila executive officer Atiqul Islam said, I have heard the matter. Necessary measures will be taken after investigation.
