People flock to TSC to give relief, collection is 15 lakhs per hour


In the ongoing flood situation of the country, thousands of people have descended on Dhaka University Student-Teacher Center (TSC) to deliver relief to the 'Ganatran' program initiated by the anti-discrimination student movement. A large number of people came to participate in this initiative of the students to deliver cash or relief according to their ability.

15 lakh taka has been collected in the last one hour. Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators, confirmed this. He gave this information in a post on his Facebook ID on Friday (August 23) night.

Hasnat Abdullah wrote, eighty six lakh twenty two thousand one hundred and seventy two rupees cash has been collected from the public relief collection program in TSC till 8 pm today. 15 lakhs collected in last one hour.

Earlier, on the initiative of anti-discrimination student movement, relief collection started at the booth set up at the gate of TSC from 10 am. As the day progressed, the presence of people increased there. Some in private cars, some in vans, some in small trucks kept bringing relief. The students in the booth were writing down the name of the donor and the details of the product in the notebook. In the morning, people came to TSC to give relief. Students lined up to collect relief in an orderly manner. In the afternoon, the TSC area was crowded with a large number of people who brought relief. Students hesitate to handle the booth at the gate of TSC. Some bring bottled water and edible saline, some wear clothes, some biscuits, some bring various dry food including dates. Student volunteers carry them by hand or shoulder to TSC's indoor sports hall and cafeteria. Many people also participated in this initiative of anti-discrimination student movement by giving cash. The students sitting in the booth write the donation amount in the book and deposit the money.

Among them, a large amount of relief material was deposited on the initiative of the anti-discrimination student movement on Thursday. Along with that, 29 lakh 76 thousand 173 taka is deposited. After collecting the relief during the day, they were sent to the affected areas in a few trucks at night. Meanwhile, the representatives of the anti-discrimination student movement went to the affected area in 200 speedboats yesterday to participate in the rescue of people trapped in the flood, said Abdullah Salehin, a member of the media and public relations wing of the movement.
