Dhaka-Chittagong highway under water, suffering is extreme

11 districts of the country have been affected by the worst floods in recorded history due to heavy rains and landslides coming down from India. The Dhaka-Chittagong highway has been submerged under water due to this flood. As a result, severe traffic jam has been created in the Dhaka-bound lane of the highway in an area of ​​45 km.

The traffic jam created from Thursday (August 23) night has not been resolved till Saturday (August 24).

It has been seen on the ground that the Chittagong-bound lane from Muhuriganj to Lalpol has been submerged in water. Bun water flow was seen on the road. Due to this, severe traffic jam has occurred in the Dhaka-bound lane. Thousands of cars are standing for hours. There is no end to the suffering of passengers and drivers. However, police station, traffic and highway police were not seen anywhere on the road.

A lorry driver said, 'I left Chittagong port on Thursday night. Arrived at Sonapahar early Saturday morning. I am standing on the street. There is no way to go.'

A passenger said, 'I was getting on the bus to go to Dhaka on Thursday morning. Coming down to Thakurdighi area on Friday morning and coming back to Chittagong city. Although having to pay extra rent.'

Zorarganj Highway Police in-charge Sohel Sarkar said, 'The police will not benefit from performing their duties on the road. Because the car cannot move due to water. When the water goes down, the traffic jam will be eased.'
