A case has been filed against Shama Obaid (52), organizing secretary (post suspended) of BNP in connection with the murder of Kabir Bhuiyan (50), a supporter of Krishak Dal Central General Secretary (post suspended) Shahidul Islam in Faridpur. Monzila Begum (44), the wife of the deceased Kabir Bhuiyan, filed the case at Nagarkanda police station on Friday night (August 23) at around 1 o'clock.
36 people have been named in this case. Besides, 50 to 60 accused have been identified as unknown. Shama Obaid's name has been named number one in the case. He has been made an accused in this case.
Referring to the role of Shama Obaid in the statement, it is said that around 11 o'clock last Wednesday (August 21), the general secretary of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Jatiyatavadi Krishak Dal, Shahidul Islam alias Babul, sent greetings from the people of Nagarkanda including Nagarkanda Thana BNP, Nagarkanda Thana Krishak Dal, Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal. A road meeting was organized in front of the Nagarkanda petrol pump. On receiving this news, BNP leader Shama Obaid ordered her supporters to suppress the road meeting as a political revenge and also ordered that no matter what, no matter how many people die, Shahidul's road meeting cannot be allowed. I will see the case of murder and injury. I will give as much money as it takes.
It is further stated in the statement that after receiving this instruction from Shama Obaid, like other places, while my husband was going from his house to market in Nagarkanda market on the west bank of Nagarkanda Bailey bridge, on the road adjacent to Minargram Vanstand on the west side of Nagarkanda Bailey bridge. As soon as they arrived, the accused said, 'beat him to death, Shama Apa has given him a hug. I will kill whoever I find of Shahidul Islam Babul's people.' The accused then confirmed my husband's death by hacking and beating him with 18 inch sharp weapons and iron rods.
Nagarkanda Upazila BNP senior vice-president Babul Talukder, general secretary Saifur Rahman Mukul (50) and his brother Masudur Rahman are among the 36 accused in this case.
Confirming the incident, Nagarkanda Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminur Rahman told Dhaka Post at around 10 am on Saturday that the complaint of the victim's wife Monjila was accepted as a case at around 1 pm on Friday. No one has been arrested in this case so far. However, efforts to arrest are underway.
