Elections are very important in state reform: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir commented that there is no alternative to reform the country through the elected parliament.

He said, we want to emphasize a lot on elections. Elections are very important when it comes to reforming the state. I do not believe that a few individuals will reform the state. This reform should be done through people's participation. But those who are in charge of the interim government are all qualified persons.

He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club on Saturday. Bhasani Anusari Parishad organized a discussion meeting on the occasion of the 9th death anniversary of the former prime minister, public leader Kazi Zafar Ahmad, the then general secretary of the National Awami Party founded by the oppressed public leader Maulana Bhasani, a famous politician and one of the organizers of the liberation war.

Mirza Fakhrul said, we have high expectations from the interim government. We all hope that this interim government will organize a fair election within a reasonable time. The chief adviser will soon present to the public what he wants to do. We hope to arrange speedy elections through a roadmap.

He said that the hero of fascism Sheikh Hasina has escaped. But some of their friends have fled and some are hiding. We don't want to see people around Hasina's advisers who have tortured and looted people in the role of Hasina's cronies. Seeing them with important people makes us anxious, worried.
