No car, house, plot, flat key, former commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Asaduzzaman Miar. He built a mountain of wealth. Not only in his own name; He also built a huge property in the name of his wife, sons and daughters and brother-in-law.

It is alleged that these resources have been built up through bribery and transfer trade in DMP. Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating his huge wealth. The truth of these resources has also been found in media inquiries. Rupayan Swapna Nilayo is next to Vikarunnisa School in Siddheshwari, an elite locality of the capital. Alishan A building in 55/1 holding is 11 floors. There is a flat of about 3,500 square feet in the name of Ayesha Siddiqa, daughter of Achaduzzaman.

When he went there on Friday afternoon, security in-charge Abul Kalam Azad told Jugantar, “I have taken a job here a month and a half ago.” 130 flats in this building. So I don't know all the flat owners well. House manager Sohail Parvez can give details. Sohail Parvez said, there is a flat here in the name of Ayesha Siddiqui. But he never comes here. It is rented out.

House No. 69, Dhanmondi 12/A Road has a luxury flat. When we went to the house on Friday afternoon, we were not allowed to enter. However, a security guard of the house, on the condition of not revealing his name, said that former DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia has bought the entire second floor of house number 69 on Road 12-A in Dhanmondi. But it is in his brother-in-law's name.

The third floor flat of that building belongs to former Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Iqbal Bahar. In this regard, DIG Krishnapad Roy of the police headquarters said that Iqbal Bahar is very close to Asaduzzaman Mia. So they both lived in the same building. I have also been there multiple times. Asaduzzaman Mia lived in that building when he was commissioner.

At 2.30 pm on Friday, I went to Iskaton Garden 13/A Priyanid and found out that there is a flat in the name of Asaduzzaman's wife. When asked for details, security personnel Abdus Salam and Shah Alam told the media, “We are new here, so we don't know much.” Azad Ahmed, manager of the building, said that there are 40 flats in this 14-storey building. Most of the flats are 2133 sqft. On the 11th floor of the building, Afroza Zaman, wife of Achaduzzaman, has a flat. But he does not live there. The flat is rented out. Abu Bakr, the receptionist, collects the rent every month and gives it to Asaduzzaman. If rent is due or if there is any problem, I personally contact sir (Achadujman).

After investigation, it is known that the house number 6 of 8/A road of Nikunj-1 is in the name of Asif Mahadeen, the younger son of Asaduzzaman. When we went there on Friday afternoon, we found the house locked from inside. After pressing the bell several times, there was no response. At one stage, this reporter was talking to the driver of the house number four next door.

The driver said, 'Achaduzzaman Mia lived in this house with his family. He ran away from home after the fall of the government. Recently the nameplate of the house has been opened. The value of this house is more than 10 crore rupees. At one stage of talking, a car stopped in front of house number 6. Then the driver said that he saw the driver of Asaduzzaman came. Later he said, 'His name is Farooq. He drives the car of Asaduzzaman's son Mahadeen. Earlier, Achaduzzaman Mia lived in this house. No one lives now.'

Meanwhile, a person peeped from inside. He said his name is Riazul. He is also a driver. When asked who is in the house, he said, 'Only I, one or two caretakers and Afroza Zaman, wife of Sir (Achaduzzaman Mia) live here.' When Afroza asked if he could meet Zaman, he said, 'Wait a little. I bring his permission.' After some time he came and said, 'Madam don't say anything.'

According to related sources, a 6-storied Alishan house is in the name of Asaduzzaman's wife, Afroza Zaman, on 10th floor at No. 166 and 167 of Road No. 1 of Bashundhara residential area. A school called Riverif is being run in that house. The school was found closed on Friday afternoon. A man came out after knocking from outside.

He told Jugantar that his name is Ramzan Ali. He is in charge of security here. Although he could not give details about the house, he said, “I heard that this house is in the name of the wife of the former commissioner of DMP, Achaduzzaman Mia.” He said, I was previously the caretaker of Lakehead Grammar School, Dhanmondi No. 12. Achaduzzaman Mia lived on that road. He (Achhaduzzaman) would often come to Lakehead Grammar School and cause trouble. Later it (school) was closed. Then I came here and took a job. Local Muhammad Ali said that the market value of this house in Bashundhara residential area is around 50 crore rupees.

According to the investigation, there is 10 khata of land in the name of Achaduzzaman Miar on Road No. 406/B of Purbachal's New Town, Sector No. 1. A car shed has been built on that land. The land value of this plot in Purbachal is more than one crore rupees. Plot No. 53 in Sector 4, Road 108, Purbachal was in the name of Asaduzzaman's wife. This 5 katha plot has been sold. Aftabnagar has 21 khata land in sector 3. There are 10 kathas in own name and remaining 11 kathas in the name of relatives.

According to sources, Afroza Zaman, wife of Asaduzzaman Mia, has huge wealth in Faridpur and Narayanganj besides Dhaka. In 2018, he was allotted a plot in special quota from Rajuk. But according to Rajuk's policy, both husband and wife are not allowed to get plot allocation.

It is known that 67 percent of the land is in the name of Afroza Zaman in Chandkhola Mauza of Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur. This land was purchased in 2017. Another 39 percent land was bought in his name on February 5, 2019 in that mouza. In the year 2020, 15 khata land was bought in Zoar Sahara Mouza under the same name. Afroza bought 31st century land in Gazipur's Chandkhola Mauza that year. In 2018, Afroza bought 28.28 acres of land in Kayamsail-Kayetpara Mauza of Rupganj, Narayanganj. In the same year, he bought another 32 hundred acres of land. In the same year, 60.60 acres of land was bought in his name in Kayamsail-Kayetpara Mauza of Rupganj. Later it was sold. In 2019, Asaduzzaman's wife got a power of attorney for 57.57 acres of land in Kayamsail-Kayetpara Mauza. Then he sold the land.

Yugantar's search found two companies owned by Achaduzzaman Mia's family members. One of them is Moumita Transport Limited. Afroza is the wife of its chairman Achaduzzaman. Asaduzzaman was the head of the capital's route permit committee when he was DMP commissioner. At that time Maumita Transport was given route permit.

Harisur Rahman Sohan, Vice Chairman of Moumita Transport Limited, is Asaduzzaman's brother-in-law. Once he went to Saudi Arabia on a labor visa. Later came to the country and started business. There is a gold shop in the capital's New Market named after Sohan. It is also known that Afroza Zaman is the chairman of another company called Shepherd Consortium Limited. The director of this company is Asif Shahadat, the elder son of Asaduzzaman. Asaduzzaman's brother-in-law Noor Alam alias Milon owns one and a half acres of land in Sreepur, Gazipur. One and a half acres of land in Gazipur is also in the name of brother-in-law Kalam.

Kalam, a resident of the village, has also become the owner of several crores of land. This pen is said to be the caretaker of Asaduzzaman's village house. Meanwhile, the ACC has started investigating the illegal assets of Asaduzzaman Mia. Khorsheda Yasmin, secretary of the organization, told the media that there have been allegations against Asaduzzaman Mia of acquiring illegal assets worth crores of rupees through various irregularities and corruption. A decision has been taken to investigate the complaint.

Although several calls were made on Friday and Saturday to inquire about the assets, Asaduzzaman Mia and his brother-in-law Harisur Rahman Sohan's mobile phones were found switched off. However, a few days before the fall of the Awami League government, Asaduzzaman told Mia Jugantar that he and his family members do not have any illegal assets. All the assets that are held are mentioned in the income tax return. He and his family members will cooperate with the government if any agency investigates these assets.
