Even after 9 hours, the fire of Gazi Tire Factory was not brought under control

It was not possible to control the fire at Gazi Tire factory in Rupsi of Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj. 11 units of the fire service tried hard but could not bring the fire under control until 7 am on Monday (August 26).

Earlier yesterday Sunday (August 25) a fire broke out in the factory around 10:30 pm. Then, within a moment, the flames started to burn. The surrounding area was shaken by the intermittent explosion.

On the news of the locals, the fire service arrived at the spot and started extinguishing the fire. 11 units joined each from Demra, Kanchpur, Adamji EPZ and Kanchan Fire Station. They worked together but could not bring the fire under control overnight. Fire officials said the situation was complicated by the infrastructure and combustible materials from tire manufacture inside.

Locals say that after the arrest of Golam Dastgir Gazi, the former minister and chairman of Gazi Group, there has been massive looting in the factory. Hundreds of people were trapped inside while looting.

It is not known what caused the fire. The fire service said that the cause and extent of damage will be known after the fire is fully under control.
