Muchapur sluicegate broke under the pressure of flood water

Muchapur sluicegate in Companyganj of Noakhali has collapsed due to the pressure of flood water. As a result, panic has spread among the local residents. This incident happened on Monday (August 26) morning.

It is known that as a result of the upstream of India, the water of Feni Muhuri river and the heavy rains of Companyganj go to the Bay of Bengal through the 23 gates of Muchapur sluicegate regulator. On Monday morning, the regulator broke due to heavy water pressure. Then the bridge sank into the water.

A local resident said that everyone is leaving the area. Because when the tidal water enters the area will sink. Everyone is running. Pray for us.

Ayub Ali, chairman of Muchapur Union Parishad (UP), said that the regulator broke because it could not withstand the intense water pressure. Our Muchapur closure is over. Local people are crying. Everyone is helpless. If the tide is high, now the whole Companyganj will be washed away. Allah has no choice but to protect us.

Munshi Amir Faisal, Executive Engineer of Water Development Board Noakhali said, “We have also come to know about the matter. In fact, a lot of water came down through the 23 gates of the regulator. If the gates had not been opened earlier, they would have been broken earlier. We have informed the matter to the higher authorities.”

Companiganj Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Anwar Hossain Patwari said, the Muchapur regulator has been damaged, to facilitate the work of the engineers of the Water Development Board, we request them not to crowd the regulator-adjacent area.
