Layne Riggs suffered from a dislocated his shoulder in a celebratory mishap following his first career win in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series at Milwaukee Mile Speedway.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon during the LiUNAI 175 race, shortly after Riggs had secured his maiden victory.

Riggs climbed atop his vehicle after his LiUNAI 175 victory, but as he enthusiastically celebrated he ended up with a dislocated his shoulder. Captured by cameras, the painful moment showed Riggs suddenly hunching and clutching his arm before team members rushed to his aid. Despite the setback, Riggs’s spirits remained unbroken.

He commented to the media afterwards:

“Dislocated my shoulder I was celebrating so hard, but it was worth it.”

The race itself was a breakthrough for Riggs, who took the lead from fellow driver Ty Majeski with 53 laps remaining, clinching the victory by a margin of 1.547 seconds.

Reflecting on his maiden win, Riggs commented:

“We’ve had a terrible year, it’s been an awful year, but I’ve learned so much though in my rookie season.

“After the start I thought there’s no way we’re going to get a win, we’ll do the best we can and just learn for next year. But I knew in practice this thing [today] was awesome.”

Adding to the emotional weight of the day, Riggs celebrated this landmark achievement with his father, Scott Riggs, a former NASCAR driver. Riggs added:

“I don’t even know how to describe it.

“It’s awesome.”
