Hoped Chief Adviser would give roadmap, didn't hear it: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said regarding the election, I am still in a fog, the situation is not clear to me. We expected that Chief Adviser Sir, he would give a roadmap… but we did not find that roadmap in his speech, 'Transition to Democracy'.

Fakhrul said, 'he talked about reforms, those reforms are some things… he also gave a glimpse of some of them… I know, they are not possible in this short period of time.'

He said these things at a discussion meeting on the occasion of the 9th death anniversary of Jatiya Party Chairman Kazi Zafar at the Jatiya Press Club on Monday (August 26).

Regarding Yunus's statement that election is a political decision, BNP Secretary General said that he is right. Of course it will be a political decision. To take this political decision, we have to discuss with political leaders, political parties and political persons.

“I would expect our chief adviser to move very quickly towards that process and he would talk to the political parties,” he said.

Mirza Fakhrul said, it is not possible without elections… elections must be held. So that the elections are fair and free, so that everyone can vote and this election does not create a situation that the people will never accept if the previous situation returns. That is why we are waiting patiently, the people are waiting. But it must be up to a reasonable time. I believe that within that logical period there will certainly be an election, the establishment of a people's government.

Regarding the withdrawal of the case of the chief advisor, Mirza Fakhrul said, we have cases against about 60 lakh people, they should be withdrawn. I saw in the newspaper that the case of the chief adviser has been raised. Another adviser's case has been withdrawn. We want our 1 lakh 45 thousand cases to be withdrawn immediately.

Regarding the movement of Ansar members, he said, yesterday they surrounded the secretariat and wanted to create a disturbance by using the clothes of Ansar members. The students destroyed it. This is a bad sign. That is, those defeated powers seek to thwart this victory in various ways. We urge people not to indulge in these matters.

Regarding the ongoing floods in the country, Mirza Fakhrul said that there may be floods. Heavy rain will cause flooding. But this flood is a criminal offense. They were not informed what would happen downstream after India opened the barrier. Which is a violation of international law. Unprepared, many people were swept away by the water. People have died. They are now living a subhuman life. I sympathize with them.

Regarding the trend of forced resignation of teachers in various schools and colleges, he said, “We have seen that some schools and colleges are forcing teachers to resign and leave.” There is a system for it… he complained, if the complaint is proved, it will go away. But let him work. Do not use undue force to create a situation that undermines governance.

Demanding the speedy removal of those who were in the administration during the Awami League government, Fakhrul said, “We don't even want to see their faces.”

Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar) chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider chaired the discussion and joint secretary general ASM Shamim convener of Bhasani Anusari Parishad Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, Jatiya Party secretary general Ahsan Habib Lincoln, presidium members Nawab Ali Abbas Khan, Maulana Ruhul Amin, Mujibur Rahmar, Salim Master, Hossein Ara, late Kazi Zafar's eldest daughter Kazi Jaya, nephew Kazi Md. Nahid spoke.
