The new vice-chancellor of BSMMU Dr. Saidur Rahman

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of the university's pharmacology department chairman Professor Dr. Saidur Rahman. This information was informed in a notification signed by Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Deputy Secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare Department of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday (August 27).

It is said in the notification, with the approval of the chancellor of the university and the president, according to section 12 of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Act, 1998, Professor Dr. Saidur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, BSMMU, Dhaka has been appointed conditionally to the vacant post of Vice-Chancellor, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

As per the terms and conditions, his term of appointment as Vice-Chancellor will be 4 years. Even in the post of Vice-Chancellor he will be entitled to pay and allowances equivalent to his present post and he will complete the remaining term of the post of Vice-Chancellor after completing the formalities of retirement from the original post on completion of regular service age.

Also, according to the new vice-chancellor rules, he will enjoy other benefits related to the post of vice-chancellor. However, the notification also mentions that the chancellor of the university can cancel this appointment at any time if necessary.
