The floodgates of Kaptai Dam opened one and a half feet

16 sluices of Kaptai Dam have been opened by one and a half feet since noon on Tuesday (August 27) as the water level of Kaptai Lake did not decrease. 30,000 cusecs of water is being extracted every second.

Sources of Karnaphuli Water Power Plant said that the water capacity of Kaptai Lake is now at its highest level. The water level of the lake was recorded at 108.92 MSL (Mean Sea Level) at 10 am on Tuesday. Which is in the final stage of danger.

Earlier, the water level was recorded at 108.84 MSL at 10 am on Monday. The water capacity of Kaptai Lake is 109 MSL.

ATM Abduzzah, Manager of Kaptai Water Power Plant, said that the gate has been opened by one and a half feet. It discharges 30,000 cusecs per second.

Besides, 220 megawatts of electricity is being produced by keeping five units of the power plant operational. 32 thousand cusecs of water is released every second.
