Altruism is a noble virtue. This is the claim of human humanity and the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. One of the purposes for which Allah Ta'ala has sent man on earth is to give charity and seek the welfare of others.
Allah Ta'ala says in the Holy Qur'an, 'You are the best nation. You have been created for the welfare of mankind. You will enjoin good deeds and forbid evil deeds.' (Surah Al-Imran, verse: 110).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) encouraged charity in various hadiths. Here are 4 hadiths related to the virtues of philanthropy:
Allah's mercy
Prophet SAW about philanthropy. He said, 'Be kind to the people of the world, then Allah, the owner of the sky, will be kind to you.' (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1847).
He who benefits more people is the best
In another hadith, the Prophet said. He said, the entire creation is the family of Allah. So there is no class distinction in the spirit of philanthropy. Big and small, rich and poor, relatives and non-relatives, caste and caste, Muslim and non-Muslim rise above these differences and talk about the establishment of a social system of peace and harmony in Islam. Rasulullah SAW. He said, 'Believers live together. There is nothing good in him that cannot be reconciled. The person who benefits people more is the best person.' (Al-Muzamul Awasat: 5787).
Allah gives comfort if someone's need is removed
In another hadith, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, 'Whoever solves one of the worldly problems of a believer, Allah Ta'ala will solve one of his problems in the Hereafter. Whoever helps a needy person, Allah Ta'ala will grant him comfort in this world and the hereafter. Whoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the hereafter. Allah is with the help of the servant, as long as the servant is engaged in helping his brother.' (Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2699).
Companions' charity competition
Companions used to compete with each other for charity. In a hadith, Zayd Ibn Aslam. Narrated from his father, he said:-
I heard Umar say, the Prophet. (During the Battle of Tabuk) ordered us to give charity. Fortunately at that time I also had wealth. I said (in my mind), if I can ever surpass Abu Bakr RA, then today is the chance.
Omar Ra. Said, I brought half of my wealth. Rasul He said, what have you left for your family? I said, its equivalent. And Abu Bakr RA. He brought his entire wealth. He said, O Abu Bakr! What have you left for your family?
He said, I have left Allah and His Messenger for them. I said (in my mind), I will never surpass Abu Bakr (RA). (Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3675).
