French Ambassador meeting with Adviser Nahid Islam

French Ambassador to Dhaka Marie Masdupui paid a courtesy call on Nahid Islam, Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology. The meeting between the two parties was organized on Thursday (August 29) at the adviser's office in the Secretariat. This information was informed in a press release by the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.

The ambassador of France was welcomed to the independent Bangladesh which was recently achieved through the popular uprising of the students. Adviser Nahid Islam also mentioned that people of Bangladesh have always been interested in France.

At this time, the adviser said to the French ambassador that, despite hearing about digital Bangladesh and smart Bangladesh for several years, there have been many corruptions and irregularities in this regard. The people of Bangladesh have not fully benefited from the amount of money invested in these projects.

The adviser also said that the places of corruption are being investigated initially. There are opportunities to work in the ICT sector of Bangladesh, the country's youth are proficient in information technology and are keen to work in this sector. The advisor also commented that the youth will do much better in the IT sector if they get incentives.

When Ambassador Marie expressed interest in providing training to Bangladeshis on cyber security by the French government, the advisor said that cyber security has now become as important as border security. In this case, if the youth and officials of the country can take this training, it will be good for the country.

At the end of the meeting, the talks ended with assurances of mutual cooperation, the press release said. During the meeting, the Secretary of Post and Telecommunication Department Dr. Mushfiqur Rahman, Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Department. Senior officials of the ministry including Shamsul Arefin were present.
