Cyclone 'Asana' is approaching, where will it hit?

A deep depression over the Arabian Sea is moving westward. It is also likely to intensify into Cyclone 'Asana' by Friday (August 30) evening. India and Pakistan Meteorological Departments reported this information. News from Reuters.

The cyclone is currently located 190 km west-northwest of India's Bhuj region in Gujarat and 200 km southeast of Karachi, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast says that after the low pressure becomes a cyclone, it may hit the coast of the western Indian state of Gujarat as well as the southeastern province of Sindh, Pakistan. It may then move north-east over the Arabian Sea towards Oman.

In the meantime, there have been reports of rainfall in Gujarat under the influence of this cyclone. Vast areas are under water. The situation is likely to deteriorate further. Due to the cyclone, the Kutch district authorities have asked local residents to leave their homes and take shelter in shelters.

Meteorologists in India say that cyclones are rare in the region during the monsoon season. Generally during the months of June to September, depressions cannot develop into cyclones due to the strong resistance of the southwest monsoon.

Cyclone Asana is slowly moving towards the Arabian Sea from Kutch in India, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Friday. It is now located 200 km southeast of Karachi. It is expected to move in a west-southwest direction along the Sindh coastal region.

Director General of PMD Meher Sahebzada Khan said in a press conference that the cyclone has formed on the Karachi-Gwadar coast. This may result in heavy rainfall after hitting the western coastal areas.
