Doctors strike in DM, all services including emergency department closed

The doctors of Dhaka Medical College (DMH) are on a strike due to the beating of the doctors who entered the operation theater of the Dhaka Medical College (DMH) hospital due to the death of a student under treatment.

They have stopped medical services from all the wards including the emergency department and outpatient department of the hospital since Sunday morning. At this time, hundreds of patients are suffering in the hospital.

Doctors joined the cause on Sunday morning, but they left the hospital as the day progressed. Finally, around 9:30 am, the medical officers of the emergency department closed their rooms and the ticket counter of the emergency department was closed.

Since then, the number of patients in front of Dhaka Medical Center has increased. It was seen that most of the patients went from one hospital to another without getting a doctor.

Doctors identified the culprits after seeing the CCTV footage and gave an ultimatum to arrest three doctors of neurosurgery department on Saturday. Otherwise they announced that they will go on strike after 24 hours. However, the doctors have stopped the emergency department due to security concerns. They went on strike before the expiry of 24 hours of the ultimatum.

It is known that Bangladesh University of Business Technology (BUBT) student Ahsanul Haque Diptar died on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical. Then the student's family and BUBT students came to Dhaka Medical. They came to Dhaka Medical and claimed that their friend died due to negligence.

Later on Saturday afternoon, the doctors were beaten up by entering the operation theater over Deeptar's death. Neurosurgery department doctors Imran, Mashrafe and Zubair were injured.

In this incident, on Saturday night, the angry doctors marched to the hospital compound with the slogan 'We One Justice' and demanded punishment against the culprits.
