Full probe into BDR killing soon: Home Advisor

Soon the full investigation and justice process of BDR (currently BGB) killings will begin, said Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retired) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. The adviser said this while talking to reporters at the secretariat on Monday (September 2).

Stating that the present government is determined to establish people's rights, good governance and justice, he said, not only as a home adviser, but as a common citizen and former member of the army, I want justice for the BDR murder.

He said that the full investigation and justice process of this murder will be started soon.

Note that on February 25, 2009, 9 am. The Durbar started at the then Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) Durbar Hall in Pilkhana of the capital.

BDR Director General (DG) Major General Shakeel Ahmed spoke at the beginning of the program. At one stage of the speech, before he could understand anything, some rebel members of BDR ambushed the Durbar Hall. 74 people including 57 army personnel were killed in that day's attack by the misguided members. It took another two days to understand the brutal carnage within the four walls of the Pilkhana.

Police took control of Pilkhana after the 33-hour-long rebellion ended in surrender the following night. On February 27, several mass graves were found inside Pilkhana. The bodies of BDR director general Major General Shakeel Ahmed, his wife and army officers were found there. A large quantity of weapons including scattered grenades were recovered.
