Protesters sit on dharna overnight at Kolkata police headquarters

Tuesday again after Monday. 'Amra Tilottama' stage woke up in Dharmatala on Monday demanding the arrest and strict punishment of the culprits in the rape-murder case of a medical student.

Junior doctors will hold a vigil in front of the Kolkata Police headquarters in Lalbazar on Tuesday to demand the resignation of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal on allegations of negligence in the investigation.

Along with the common people, actresses Sohini Sarkar, Chaiti Ghoshal, Sudipta Chakraborty, Devalila Dutt and a bunch of artists from Tolipara came in front of Lalbazar to support the agitators on Monday after Sunday. They said in a loud voice, “Enough is enough. I will wake up every night if necessary to seek justice.”

Many senior doctors also met at Lalbazar protest site at midnight to support the movement of junior doctors. Said, “Duty done, to boost up juniors' movement.”

Junior doctors claim that Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goel should be removed from the RG tax case. On this day, they tried to meet the police commissioner of Kolkata. But as Vineet Goyal did not agree, they sat on the streets in protest. He informed that the position will continue until the demand is met.

It is known that the parents of the slain student doctor may also join the protesting students' night occupation program in front of Lalbazar on September 4. Sohini said that on that day they will also wake up at night with the protestors.

Incidentally, the CBI arrested Sandeep Ghosh, the former director of RG Tax, during the students' protest. The agitators burst into joy at the news. At the same time, they said that their position in front of Lalbazar will continue until the resignation of Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal.

On the other hand, a bill to introduce a strict anti-rape law, which calls for hanging the convicts, will be tabled in the West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday itself.
