Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has apologized to the nation for failing to bring back prisoners alive in the hands of Hamas.

He publicly apologized after protests demanding Netanyahu's resignation erupted across Israel last Saturday (August 31) after the bodies of six prisoners were recovered.

The Palestinian independence movement Hamas has warned that the remaining prisoners will face the same fate if there is no ceasefire, the Jerusalem Post reports. They should also be returned to their families in coffins.

Israel has become violent in protest over this statement. Thousands of people took to the streets to demand Prime Minister Netanyahu's resignation. At the same time, the country's factories and business establishments have been closed due to the strike called by the trade union.

Netanyahu has apologized to the nation by admitting his failure to prevent the death of prisoners in such circumstances.
