Owner Gets Expensive Cat Tree for Their Pet, You Can Imagine Her Reaction

A cat owner has left the internet in stitches after revealing their pet’s reaction to the new expensive toy she got in a post that has quickly gone viral on social media.

The Reddit post, shared on Monday, under the username @xxsnowo, features two pictures of the tabby cat looking at her expensive toy, a giant cat tree with lots of space to climb and hide, with disdain.

Instead, she can be seen enjoying the toy’s discarded packaging, in which she is sitting comfortably, seeming to be totally uninterested in playing with her new gift.

“Got my Cat a large expensive cat tree,” reads a caption shared along with the hilarious pictures.

Despite insisting on buying new toys for our fur babies, all cat owners known full well that the cat will be more interested in the packaging the toy came in than they toy itself. But why do cats prefer cardboard to elaborate and expensive toys?

Newsweek previously delved into this topic and found many possible reasons why cats love boxes so much. One reason is that they love hiding places, and cardboard boxes make the great hideaways.

Cats are also comforted by small places, especially those small enough to only fit their body and nothing else, as it gives them a sense of security. They also love the warm and natural smell of boxes. The texture of cardboard allows them to scratch it and play with it, making it fun.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across Reddit. It has so far received over 2,700 upvotes and 170 comments on the platform.

One user, MissUnRuly, commented: “Are you new to this? Just buy yourself something and give your cat the box. Win win.”

Organic_Implement_38 said: “Well technically box was part of the purchase, you just wrongly assumed which part cat will enjoy more.”

Anic13 added: “I have to put mine in front of the windows so mine will use them. I find it funny when you see them in front windows when driving by houses, oh look prime window in front of house…that a cat tree is blocking…who owns the house…”
