Cvent’s Spending Streak Continues with Splash Acquisition

Cvent is broadening its overall portfolio by acquiring Splash. This privately held event marketing technology company was created by Ben Hindman and Brett Boskoff in 2011.

After being acquired by Blackstone in a $4.6 billion deal that closed last June, Cvent now has deep pockets. The Splash acquisition follows the June purchase of Reposite, an AI-powered sourcing platform. In January, Cvent acquired trade show-focused companies Jifflenow and iCapture.

Splash is known for providing event marketing tools to corporate clients. The platform focuses on delivering easy-to-use event websites and email marketing templates that easily adhere to corporate branding. The core client demographic is corporate marketers — particularly those focused on field marketing. The instant data flow in and out of CRMs is also a feature.

Splash boasts 500 customers, including over 60 Fortune 1000 companies. They are now part of the Cvent ecosystem.

Splash quickly updated its privacy policy on its website. “Personal data processed under this Privacy Policy may be disclosed to our parent company, Cvent,” it says.

Before the Cvent acquisition, Splash raised $39.5 million in funding over seven rounds. This is according to Crunchbase. In January, Splash CEO Eric Holmen left the company. He joined in February 2020 as chief revenue officer, transitioning to CEO in June 2021. He took over from Hindman. Matthew Curry is Splash’s interim CEO.

Marketing and Events Converge

“The technology-driven convergence of marketing and events is an exciting growth opportunity,” says Reggie Aggarwal, Cvent’s CEO and founder. “Pairing Splash’s expertise in field marketing events with our robust event and marketing platform further strengthens our ability to empower marketers to create and execute on-brand, high-impact event programs that deliver real results.”

A Skift Meetings 2023 award winner, Splash was recognized for having the “best event management platform.”

Splash has embraced AI. Attendance Insights, an AI-powered tool that predicts attendance, is its most recent launch. The predictive machine learning algorithm is trained on hundreds of thousands of events Splash hosts.

AI was also a focus of Cvent Connect held in San Antonio in June. Approximately 4,000 attended the conference in person with 6,000 tuning in online.
