Clash between two groups of BNP at midnight in Chandpur, 50 injured

BNP and allied organizations clashed over dominance in Chandpur's Puranbazar. At least more than 50 people were injured. The clash continued for several hours in the Bou-Bazar area on Friday (September 6) night. Later, army and police personnel went and brought the situation under control.

The police and locals said that there was an argument between the two groups of BNP leaders and activists based on extortion and spread of dominance. Although the matter was supposed to be resolved, the two sides clashed on Friday evening.

Shops were vandalized in this incident. Among the injured in the clash, 35 have been treated at the 250-bed Government General Hospital, Chandpur.

The injured claimed that two hundred people under the leadership of local BNP leaders Rob Mizi, Rana Mizi, Shafiq Mizi ambushed them with batons and indigenous weapons for preventing extortion. Many were severely beaten and severely injured.

Mohammad Alam Khan, joint convener of Ward No. 2 Youth Dal of Chandpur Municipality, who was injured in the clash, claimed that local Rob Mizi and his son Rana beat up an innocent person by asking for money. At that time, when a young man of the area tried to stop him, a scuffle took place. At this time, the dignitaries of the area assured to solve the matter. In the meantime, around 6 pm on Friday, Rob Mizi and his accomplices brought weapons and vandalized the shops in our area. At that time, when they tried to stop us, around 50 people, including men and women, were beaten and injured.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandpur Model Police Station. Alamgir Hossain Roni said that there may have been a clash between the two sides in Puranbazar based on the expansion of dominance. After receiving the news, army and police personnel went to the spot at night and brought the situation under control. Following the complaint in this incident, legal action will be taken against those involved.
