The Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly agreed to terms on a deal to bring two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell to Los Angeles. Snell joins a loaded starting rotation with the Dodgers.
In the aftermath of this $182 million deal, the Dodgers are going to part ways with a few of their own beloved free agents.
Wynston Wilcox of FanSided has suggested that the Dodgers will cut ties with one of their starting pitchers following the signing of an even better starter. Jack Flaherty, who’s projected to land a $63 million deal, is expected to be let go by Los Angeles.
“The Dodgers added Jack Flaherty before the trade deadline from the Detroit Tigers to beef up their rotation with Shohei Ohtani not throwing due to injury and Clayton Kershaw battling some injuries this season,” Wilcox wrote. “With them landing on Blake Snell, this seems all but certain Flaherty is out the door. Oh the irony if he ended up with the New York Yankees. Flaherty was a great addition, with a 6-2 record and 3.17 ERA. He was also just shy of 200 strikeouts this season.”
It should be obvious to everybody that Flaherty won’t be back in Dodger blue in 2025. The Dodgers had their eyes set on bigger targets the entire time. Even though Flaherty has voiced his eagerness to remain a Dodger, he will be signing a solid contract with another team this winter.
