Fans are calling Gordon Ramsay and Pete Davidson’s Super Bowl LIX ad “weird” — in a good way.

The movie-style commercial for HexClad cookware follows celebrity chef Ramsay, 58, as he enters the famed Area 51, a highly-classified slice of the Nevada desert that’s the subject of many conspiracy theories about UFOs or “UAPs,” as they’re now referred to.

Ramsay is hurried back into a classified area after a government agent tells him they’ve made contact with a new species of alien. “And they’re foodies,” she sneers. Ramsay sighs and good-naturedly agrees, “Foodies, the worst.”

The fiery Kitchen Confidential host is told he’ll have to cook for this new alien species—but he’ll be equipped with “top-secret alien technology.” Ramsay immediately recognizes this as “just a HexClad pan.” The agent starts to explain before admonishing that she doesn’t have time for a “science lesson,” the advertising pitch for the science behind HexClad.

The ads ends with an exchange between Ramsay and the “ambassador” representing the “new alien species,” played by comedian Davidson, 31.

Easter eggs during the cross-generational celebrity mash-up include an extra-terrestrial lasering the final touches on one of Ramsay’s famous beef Wellingtons, and one of Ramsay’s much-copied fried eggs looking like a UFO in the laboratory.

TikTok’s The Brand Blueprint said of the “winning” and “weird” ad, “The whole alien thing will get you to put your chip down and watch what’s going on.”

Ramsay is currently hosting Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars on Fox, which is also airing the Super Bowl. Davidson became famous as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2014 to 2022. He has starred in many successful films and TV shows.
