Mumtaz arrested from Dhanmondi

DB Police has arrested former Manikganj-2 constituency MP (MP) and music artist Mumtaz Begum from Dhanmondi. He was arrested on Monday (May 12) night.

Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the information.

Mumtaz Begum was the Awami League nominee in the Manikganj-2 (Singir-Harirampur) seat in the twelfth parliamentary election. However, he was defeated by his party's independent candidate Dewan Zahid Ahmed Tulu.

Although he was not elected a Member of Parliament, he had been serving as the president of Singai Upazila Awami League for a long time.

Since defeating the Jatiya Sangsad elections, Mumtaz did not come to his area. Besides, Upazila Awami League politics was not so much.
