BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said an acceptable election is essential for re -establishing a democratic section in the country.
He told reporters after a meeting with UN resident coordinator Goen Lewis and senior human rights adviser Huma Khan at the BNP's central office in Gulshan on Sunday (October 8th).
Amir Khasru said, “The practice of mutual relations and dialogue between political parties is very important in the progress of democracy.”
The Rohingya crisis was also discussed at the meeting, adding that the UN had taken refuge in the Rohingya to continue humanitarian assistance till the return of their home country.
Goen Lewis, on the other hand, said that Bangladesh needs further cooperation in tackling the Rohingya crisis and the international community has the responsibility to play an effective role in this regard.
