Former UP member dies after falling from coconut tree in Burichong

A tragic death of a former UP member named Md Farid Uddin (55) has been reported after he fell from a coconut tree in Ramchandrapur village of Varella North Union of Burichong Upazila of Comilla.

The accident took place at Barabari in Ramchandrapur Purbapara of Varella North Union of the upazila around 9 am on Thursday. The deceased Farid Uddin was a resident of that village and a former UP member of Varella North Union.

Local sources and union BNP president Md. Mojibur Rahman said that when Farid Uddin climbed the coconut tree of his house, he suddenly slipped and fell down. He was seriously injured. Later the locals rescued him and rushed him to Mainamati Cantonment General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead.

Union BNP president Md. Mojibur Rahman also said that due to accidental death, the funeral of the deceased was completed at around 9 pm on Thursday after the necessary formalities. Later he was buried in the family cemetery. Deceased Farid Uddin left behind 4 daughters and 1 son.

In this regard, Varella North Union Parishad Chairman Advocate Iskandar Ali Bhuiyan Amir said, through local UP member Jahangir Alam, I came to know that former UP member Farid Uddin died after falling from a coconut tree and his burial was completed at night.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Burichong Police Station Lutfur Rahman said, I came to know about the incident through you. The police will be sent to the spot to find out the details.
