As Eid is approaching, traffic pressure is increasing on the Dhaka-Tangail and Dhaka-Mymensingh highways in Gazipur. Many have already left for home. The pressure of passengers and vehicles increases slightly as the day progresses at Chandra intersection of Dhaka-Tangail highway and Chandana intersection of Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
Meanwhile, instead of constructing a footover bridge at Chandra Mor, the road divider was constructed before Eid, causing the commuters to suffer. Due to construction of new road and road divider in Chandra Trimor area of Kaliakair Upazila of Gazipur, the people of North Bengal are facing extreme suffering.
There was heavy traffic on the Dhaka-Tangail highway on Sunday (April 7) morning. Due to vehicles, there is a traffic jam for about 3 hours from 7 am to 10 am. However, with the help of the highway police, traffic became normal after 10 o'clock.
Talking to the highway police and transport-related persons, it is known that the Chandra Trimor area of the Dhaka-Tangail highway used to cause massive traffic jams every year on two Eids. The flyover was built there to ease the traffic congestion. As a result, the traffic jam becomes very normal. Commuters can easily travel from Joydevpur to Tangail and from Tangail to Joydevpur through the flyover. And the vehicles moving towards Nabi Nagar in Savar are traveling below.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Naojor Highway Police Station. Shahadat Hossain said, the homely people have started going to the village. As a result, the traffic pressure on the highway has increased. There was some traffic jam in the morning. But now traffic is normal.
On the other hand, to restore order on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and reduce traffic congestion, illegal structures were removed from the 400-meter area of Chandna Chowrasta area on Sunday morning.
Police and transport officials say that there are about 5000 small and big industries in Gazipur. These factories will be closed from Monday (April 8). As a result, if the factory workers intend to return home on Eid together, suffering will begin.
Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) said that additional traffic police are performing duties to keep traffic conditions normal on highways during Eid Yatra. So far no traffic jam has been reported anywhere in Gazipur part of this route.
