13 people died in nine districts of the country from morning to evening due to lightning and downed trees in Kalboishakhi storm. On Sunday (April 7) morning in Pirojpur several villages including Palpara of municipality and Shariktala Dumritala of Sadar upazila were destroyed by a 15-minute storm. Anil Pal (82), son of Kanai Lal Pal, who fell into the canal of Nalbunia village during the storm, died.

Meanwhile Kanai Lal was in a village market during the storm. As the speed of the storm increased, when he left for home, he fell into the canal in the strong wind and disappeared. After the storm subsided, locals rescued him dead from the canal.

On the other hand, a woman named Ruby Begum (22) was killed when a tree fell on her house in Morichal village of Shariktala union during the storm. When her baby daughter was seriously injured, she was sent to Khulna for treatment. His condition is critical.

In several areas of Pirojpur Municipality and Sadar Upazila, hundreds of trees fell and houses were damaged in the cyclone. The tin sheds of the mud houses were blown away. Road communication has been closed in various areas. The power supply has been disrupted due to the uprooted trees in the cyclone. Members of the Electricity Department, Fire Service and Youth Red Crescent are working on the road.

Mohammad Zahedur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Pirojpur, said that Sadar Upazila of Pirojpur was the most affected by uprooting trees in a sudden cyclone. At this time 2 people were killed.

Many houses and houses in different areas of Lalmohan Upazila of Bhola have been destroyed by the Kalbaisakhi storm. A storm suddenly started blowing in Lalmohan around 11 o'clock on Sunday. At the same time, Charlengutia village of ward number 6 of Charbhuta union of the upazila was struck by lightning. A young man named Bachchu (35) died. He is the son of Kaishar Ahmed of that area. Besides, it is said that more than two hundred houses have been damaged in the storm. The power lines were torn by the storm.

Lalmohan upazila executive officer (UNO) confirmed the matter. Touhidul Islam said that several houses and houses were destroyed in the area with the loss of two lives in the storm.

On the other hand, the isolated Manpura upazila was suddenly devastated by the Kalbaisakhi storm. In this, more than three hundred houses in most areas of Hajihat, North Sakuchia and South Sakuchia Union of the upazila have been completely destroyed. Among them, three villages of Hajihat Union of the upazila have been destroyed by the storm. This damage was caused when the storm started for half an hour from 12:30 pm to 1 am along with the storm. Three people were injured after being buried under the storm-damaged house. All have been given medical care at Manpura Upazila Health Complex. All of their homes are in East Sonarchar village in Ward 1 of Hazirhat Union.

Apart from the houses of many businesses destroyed, the tin shed classroom of Monowara Begum Mahila College of the upazila was also destroyed. It is reported that 30 cows of the farmer who were on different pastures fell into the river and are missing.

The Chairman of Hazirhat Union Parishad No. 2 of the upazila said that two to twenty-two and a half houses in Hazirhat Union were completely destroyed in a sudden storm. 30 cows of the farmer fell into the river and got lost.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Zahirul Islam said that the Kalbaisakhi storm has caused extensive damage. The matter has been brought to the notice of higher authorities. Any assistance received will be given to the affected.

Meanwhile, a teenager named Ratul (14) and an old woman named Sufia Begum (85) were killed in the Kalboishakhi storm in Baufal of Patuakhali. Ratul's house is in Kathi village of Roy Tanter of Nazirpur union of upazila. Father's name is Zaheer Sikder. He was found dead on the road. It is believed that he died due to lightning. And Sufia Begum's house is in Charalgi village of Dashpara union of upazila. Her husband's name is late Ahmed Pada. He was killed after a tree fell on the house. In addition, the storm has caused extensive damage in the upazila.

The storm lasted for 35 minutes from 10:30 am to 11:50 am on Sunday, destroying houses and trees. About a hundred half-built houses have been destroyed and thousands of trees have been uprooted from different areas of Baufal. During this time, there was heavy hail and lightning. Traffic stopped on the road after the tin shed of a building of Chalehiya Fazil Madrasa in front of Baufal Municipal Police Station was uprooted.

Mother Sabiha (30), her daughter Eva (12) and a two-year-old child were seriously injured when a tree fell on their house in Afserer Graz area of ​​Gosinga village. Power lines were snapped at various places and several poles were broken due to the storm. Rabi crops including watermelon have been severely damaged due to hailstorm. In this regard, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bashir Gazi said, the agriculture department and union council chairmen have been instructed to assess the damage caused by the storm.

On this day around 9 o'clock in the morning, a sudden storm caused extensive damage in Bagerhat. Several hundreds of thatched houses have been destroyed in different parts of the district. Many trees were uprooted and power poles were down, causing power outages. A madrasa official named Liksan Sardar (32) was killed by lightning in Char Sonakur village of Kachua upazila of the district during a sudden storm.

Besides, 15 people, including a bus worker, were injured at various places after a passenger bus fell after a signboard tower was broken at the district central bus-terminal.

Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Khalid Hossain said that more than 150 families of Bagerhat were affected by the sudden storm. Houses and trees were uprooted in many areas.

Meanwhile, a person named Sajeu Khiang (48) was killed by lightning in Rajasthanli upazila of Rangamati. The lightning incident occurred on Sunday (April 7) afternoon. Sajeu Khiang is the son of Angsau Khiang of Dhanuchari Para village of Ghilachari Union No. 1 of Rajasthan Upazila. Sajeu Khiang was working in front of his house in Dhanuchari Para village in the afternoon.

At that time, when it started raining with thunder, he stayed in his house. He died when the house was struck by lightning. Iqbal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajasthan police station confirmed the matter.

In two upazilas of Jhalkathi, two women and a girl were killed by lightning while bringing cows to the field during the storm. They are – Housewife Helena Begum, wife of deceased Alam Ghazi of Munsirabad Ghazibari area of ​​Aurabunia Union of Kanthalia Upazila, Housewife Minara Begum of Shekerhat area of ​​Sadar Upazila, and Minara Begum of Ponabalia area. Bachchu's daughter Mahia Akhter Ishan is a 6th class student.

The incident took place in Shekerhat, Ponabalia Union of Jhalkathi Sadar Upazila and Aurabunia Union of Kanthalia Upazila around 11 o'clock on Sunday. This was confirmed by Jhalkathi Superintendent of Police Mohammad Afruzul Haque Tutul.

Kanthalia police OC Nasir Uddin Sarkar said that another woman named Helena Begum was killed while fetching cows in Munsirabad Ghazibari area of ​​Kanthalia upazila due to lightning.

Also in Dumuria upazila of Khulna due to lightning. A fisherman named Obaidullah Gazi (29) was killed. The incident took place at Komalpur village of Gutudia of Dumuria upazila around 8:30 am. A farmer named Shaheed Mia (52) was killed by lightning in Khaliajuri upazila of Netrakona district. The incident took place at Rajghat Haor of the upazila at around 12:15 pm due to lightning. Shahid Mia is the son of Kofil Uddin of Jagannathpur village of Mendipur union of upazila.

A farmer named Abdul Malek Patwari (60) was killed by lightning while working in paddy field in Jhikargacha upazila of Jessore district. The deceased is the son of deceased Omar Ali Patwari of Barapodaulia village of Abdul Malek upazila.
