29 members of the Myanmar Border Guard Force (BGP) once again infiltrated into Bangladesh for asylum through the Kharankkhali border area of Hoikang in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf. They have been kept in BGB custody.
Teknaf-2 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed confirmed this information. He said that they entered Bangladesh this Sunday morning for shelter. At that time they had weapons in their hands. Later they were disarmed and kept in BGB custody.
For the past few days, residents of Teknaf have been hearing gunshots and bomb blasts due to clashes in several surrounding villages in Maungdoo city in Myanmar. There is still fear among them.
Meanwhile, BGB is keeping a close watch on the border so that no Rohingya can infiltrate into Bangladesh amid the unrest in Myanmar. The patrol has been increased.
On March 11, 179 members of the country's BGP fled to Bangladesh in one day due to the conflict inside Myanmar. After that, three members of the Myanmar army escaped along the same border. They too are currently in Bjiri's custody.
