Bangladesh wants friendly relations with everyone, not war with anyone. However, we are always ready and determined to protect the sovereignty of the country from the attack of any aggressive foreign enemy. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged to do whatever it takes to risk her life for this.
He said this at the Durbar organized after the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Battery Complex' at Artillery Center and School in Halishahar cantonment of Chittagong on Sunday (April 21).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that our government is making relentless efforts to energize the Bangladesh Army by keeping the motto 'We are in peace in war, we are in peace everywhere'.
He hopes that the members of the Bangladesh Army will work with patriotism, professionalism and devotion, inspired by the spirit of the great liberation war. With the collective efforts of all, we will be able to build the golden Bangladesh of the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, the father of the nation, free from hunger and poverty and happy and prosperous.
He also said that all efforts should be continued to uphold their glory with a combination of hard practice, professional skills, devotion to duty and patriotism from steadfast trust and loyalty to the leadership.
The head of government said that the Awami League government is working tirelessly to achieve sustainable development goals by 2030 and build a developed and prosperous smart Bangladesh by 2041. That's why every member of Bangladesh Army should be IT-savvy-smart.
The four-time prime minister said that Bangladesh has been able to improve in all areas because Bangladesh has continuous democracy today. Today Bangladesh has got the status of a developing country and has established itself as a 'role model' of socio-economic development in the world. Development of Bangladesh is our main goal.
Appreciating the Artillery Center in Halishahar Cantonment of Chittagong, the Chief Minister said that the Artillery Center and School is a traditional and well-known training center of the Bangladesh Army. A significant number of soldiers of the Regiment of Artillery undergo various types of basic and advanced training from this training center every year.
He said, apart from the local army, officers from more than 12 countries including India, Kuwait, Sudan, Malaysia, Tanzania, Central African Republic, Nigeria and other friendly countries come here for higher training. Therefore, this responsibility of training entrusted to you is very sacred. We need to transform our Regiment of Artillery into a more sophisticated and effective force by imparting proper and timely training.
The Prime Minister said that the modernized Tiger MLRS, 155 mm self-propelled artillery gun Nora E-52, advanced weapon locating radar and sound ranging system have already been added to the field artillery in the modernization of the regiment of artillery. Also added to the air defense regiment are advanced Oerlikon guns, Shored Missiles, V Shored Missiles and Radar Controlled Air Defense Guns.
Highlighting the various development works of the government for the modernization of the army, he said, in the continuation of the modernization of the army, the Bangladesh army has been equipped with modern aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, fourth generation tanks, modern APCs, anti-tank missiles and other war equipment.
Appreciating the work of the army, the Prime Minister said, today the Bangladesh Army is well established as a symbol of the nation's trust. Today Bangladesh Army is also appreciated in United Nations Peacekeeping Mission due to its dedication and professionalism. Recently, state-of-the-art Light Armored Vehicles and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles have been added to ensure the capability and security of our troops in the UN Mission.
