Jahangirnagar University (JAB) registrar Abu Hasan has been accused of sending job interview letters by forging his signature. Last Monday (March 22), the matter came to the fore when the victim woman came to the office of the Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Mostafa Feroze for an interview.
According to the registrar's office, on October 19 last year, the recruitment circular was published under Reg/Administration 2/3518(2) for four posts in the Accounts Assistant Comptroller's office. Educational Qualification: Graduation (Commerce) or HSC (Commerce) or equivalent pass is required.
Then on March 19, in a letter with Reg/Administration 2/8145 (23) signed by Registrar Abu Hasan, the student was asked to appear in the office of the Vice-Chancellor (Education) with the admit card and all original certificates at 9 am on March 22.
It is known that following the notification, a businessman of Baishmail lured a third year student of Gana University to apply for that position. With the promise of getting a job, he made an agreement with that student for 8 lakh rupees. A letter is provided to him to interview for the job on the specified day. However, the signature of Registrar Abu Hasan on the letter was confirmed to be fake.
The victim woman said, 'He asked me to apply for this post so that I can get a job easily. He demanded 8 lakh rupees as a condition of getting a job. But I haven't given him any money yet.'
When the person named Abdus Samad was contacted, he said, 'I don't do this now, I used to do it when Sharif Enamul Kabir sir was the VC. Sheikh Rehana Bey was the President of our Gopalganj-5 Constituency. I was getting a sign from him for a job at Rafiq Jabbar Hall. But after that, Sharif Enamul Kabir could not stay, nor could he give me a job.'
He also said, 'I did not have any contract with that student of the public university, nor was there any transaction of money. Do I have the power to give a job? I am not associated with these, brother.'
University Registrar Abu Hasan said, 'The signature on the interview letter is fake. This is not my signature. I will take appropriate measures in this regard.
