A notification has been issued to make the age of entry into government service 32

The government has issued a notification making the maximum age limit for entry into government service 32 years. The notification was issued on Monday (November 18) evening.

Earlier, the government decided to make the maximum age limit for entering government jobs 32 years.

It is expedient and necessary to fix upper age limit for direct recruitment in self-governing bodies including government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, statutory government authorities, public non-financial corporations, the notification said. Since the Parliament is in a state of dissolution and it has appeared to the satisfaction of the President that the necessary conditions exist for taking urgent measures.

Therefore, under the powers conferred by Article 93(1) of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the President framed and promulgated the following Ordinance.

It states that this Ordinance shall be known as the Upper Age Limit Fixation Ordinance, 2024 for Direct Recruitment in Self-Governing Organizations including Government, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous, Statutory Government Authorities, Public Non-Financial Corporations. It will be implemented immediately.

The notification further states that, notwithstanding anything contained in any other law, rule, regulation, order, directive or legal instrument for the time being in force, the provisions of this Ordinance shall prevail.

The maximum age limit for entry into the service of all cadres of Bangladesh Civil Service will be 32 years. The maximum age limit for entering all government jobs outside the scope of Bangladesh Civil Service shall be 32 years. Autonomous, Semi-autonomous, Statutory Government Authorities, Public Non-Financial Corporations including Self-Governing Organizations where upper age limit of 30 years or below 32 years is mentioned for direct recruitment, everywhere the said age limit will be replaced by 32 years.

Apart from this, the existing respective recruitment rules or regulations as the case may be shall remain in force for recruitment to the posts of Defense Departments and Law Enforcement Forces.

Provided further that, if any ambiguity or difficulty arises in the execution of this Ordinance, the Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, remove the ambiguity or difficulty subject to conformity with the provisions of this Ordinance.
