A police constable was beaten to death in Khulna

A police constable was beaten to death in a clash surrounding the program called by the anti-discrimination student movement in Khulna. At this time, more than 20 policemen and more than 100 people were injured.

The name of the deceased policeman is Suman Gharami. His house is in Kachua upazila of Bagerhat district. Suman was the bodyguard of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sholadanga Zone.

Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mozammel Haque said that Sumon was beaten to death. 20 injured people were also beaten and seriously injured. One of them is under treatment in ICU.

He also said that the police tried to scare the protesters by firing some blank rubber bullets. No one was directly injured. But when the policeman returned, the agitators beat one to death and injured others.

Mozammel Haque said that the police showed maximum patience. But one of my brothers was beaten to death.

Administrative Officer of Khulna City Medical College Hospital Hamidul Islam said that four policemen were brought to the hospital after evening on Friday (August 2). One of them was dead.

Police clashed three times with students at Zero Point and Gallamari Mor in Khulna and Khulna University area on Friday (August 2) from afternoon to evening. During this time, the police fired numerous tear shells, rubber bullets and sound grenades at the students. The students also threw brickbats at the police. At that time, angry protesters set fire to a police pickup.

The agitators vandalized the Jubo League office in Ward No. 26 on Sherebangla Road in the city in the evening.
