Accused Nashir arrested in Pabna firing case where two students were killed

A joint team of RAB-12 and 3 has arrested Nashir Bhandari alias Nafir (30), one of the accused in the case of killing two students in the anti-discrimination student movement in Pabna. Three accused in the case were arrested.

The arrested Nashir is the son of Muktar Bhandari of Naldah village of Pabna Sadar Upazila. He is one of the associates of Sadar Upazila Awami League organizing secretary Abu Saeed Khan, the main accused in the murder case of two students and the eighth accused in the murder case.

In a press conference at RAB Pabna camp on Tuesday (September 03), Company Commander Major Ehteshamul Haque Khan said that a joint team of RAB-12 Pabna camp and RAB-3 arrested Nashir on Monday with the help of secret information and information technology. Later he was brought to Pabna and according to his confession, a revolver and three rounds of bullets were recovered early on Tuesday morning.

Company Commander Ehteshamul Haque Khan also said that in the preliminary interrogation of RAB, the arrested Nasheer admitted his involvement in the incident and identified himself in the video footage. Later he was sent to jail by the court.

Earlier, two students Mahbub Hasan Niloy (14) and Zahidul Islam (19) were killed by Awami League leaders during the anti-discrimination student movement rally at the traffic intersection of Pabna city on August 4.

Dulal Uddin, the father of Zahidul Islam, who was killed in this incident on August 11, filed a murder case at Sadar police station with Abu Saeed Khan, the organizing secretary of Sadar Upazila Awami League and the former chairman of Rentara Union Parishad, as the main accused.

103 people including former Pabna Sadar Constituency Member of Parliament Ghulam Farooq Prince, District Awami League President Rezaul Rahim Lal, former Municipal Mayor Sharif Uddin Pradhan, former Mayor Kamrul Hasan Mintu, District Jubo League Joint Convenor Shibli Sadiq have been made accused in the case. After the case, the police arrested the two accused and sent them to jail.
