Adam Tamiji Haque got bail

The High Court has granted bail to businessman Adam Tamiji Haque, who was arrested under the Digital Security Act on charges of insulting Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on social media.

Last Tuesday (April 2), Justice Iqbal Kabir and Justice Aktaruzzaman granted bail at the High Court bench. They signed a copy of the order on Thursday (April 4).

Incidentally, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police arrested Adam Tamiji Haque, managing director of biscuit company AT Haque Limited, who came on Facebook Live and tore up his passport, from his home in Gulshan on the night of December 10.

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police Chief Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid said at that time that a case has been filed against Adam Tamiji at Dakshinkhan police station. Besides, there is a warrant in his name at Ramna police station. All in all, he was arrested. On November 15, local ward councilor Anichur Rahman Naeem filed a case against him at Dakshinkhan police station.

It is said there, Tamiji has made various adverse comments about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He has been threatening to 'kill the Prime Minister' by engaging in anti-public order activities, spreading false offensive information.

Later on the night of December 10, Tamiji was sent to a drug treatment center as his behavior and speech seemed incoherent. The court was informed that Tamiji's 'random talk' made DB think she needed treatment.

Later, Tamiji Haque was also sent to the National Mental Hospital for treatment on the orders of the court. A board of nine specialist doctors was also constituted in the mental hospital.
