Allegation of attack on journalist in Jessore

Hasfiqur Rahman Parag, a photojournalist of Dainik Yugantar newspaper, was allegedly attacked while photographing the fight during the founding anniversary procession of the volunteer group in Jessore. The attackers vandalized his camera.

The attack took place in the city's Manihar area around 12 noon on Monday (August 19).

Injured photojournalist Hasfiqur Rahman Parag said, 'Today around 12 noon, preparations were underway to take out the procession of the founding anniversary of the volunteer group from Manihar area of ​​the city. Meanwhile, some youths started fighting. I was photographing their fight. After seeing the photo taken, they came with sticks and hammers. They tried to take away the camera.'

He further said, 'At one point they beat me and vandalized the camera. Later some colleagues came forward and rescued me. I took first aid at the hospital.'

BNP's Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit said, 'I express my regret over the attack on the photojournalist. Maximum punishment will be ensured for those involved in the incident.'
