Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced the cancellation of the proposed pension system in universities, autonomous institutions and government institutions.

Earlier, a notification was issued by the Ministry of Finance on July 2. The government gazetted the law on January 31, 2023 to bring people from all walks of life to a sustainable pension system.
In light of this 'Prayya' scheme of universal pension was introduced for self-governing, autonomous, state-owned and its constituent entities, among others.
