Anti-Trump Ad Depicting a Future That Outlaws Abortions Goes Viral

A new anti-Donald Trump advertisement depicting a future of strong anti-abortion laws has gone viral on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The scripted video shows a fictional Sheriff’s deputy pulling over a man driving with his daughter, and expressing he’s aware of the girl’s pregnancy, menstrual cycle, and father’s motivations in driving her to an out-of-state clinic for an abortion.

At the end of the scene, the officer arrests both the father and the daughter and says, “You, young lady, are under arrest for evading motherhood.”

The upload has received 15,000 likes and nearly 700,000 views since it was posted on August 27.

The clip was created and posted by the Lincoln Project, a political action committee founded by former Republican strategists in 2019 who oppose Trump and his views

The advertisement says that the call for national abortion bans is based on Project 2025, a political initiative initially created by the Heritage Foundation in 2022, which the post refers to as Trump’s agenda, although he has disavowed any connection with it.

While Trump supported overturning Row v. Wade, he has not endorsed a nationwide abortion ban.

In an interview with CNN, Stuart Stevens, a senior adviser for the Lincoln Project spoke about the aims and impact of the advertisement, highlighting that by leaving it up to the states to decide on abortion laws, as Trump supports, the future depicted in the video could be a reality.

“The problem with the unimaginable is it’s difficult to imagine.” Stevens said. “This actually has happened. They did criminalize someone going out of state in Ohio. When you get these states that have banned abortion, they are going to track all this. When you make somebody a criminal, if you’re a woman and you’re using an app to track periods, that could become evidence against you in a trial.”

Project 2025 aims to reshape the government to conform to the interests of Conservatives, and wants to finish building the border wall, cut down on government spending, allocate educational funding to state and local governments, and more.

Project 2025’s policy agenda entitled Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise outlines that it aims to “delete the term abortion” along with other terms, end federal funding for abortion, “eliminate central promotion of abortion health services,” and ban abortion medication including the Plan B pill.

The policy agenda also details that the organization plans to eradicate “abortion tourism” and ensure that states report how many abortions are being conducted within state borders and prohibit “abortion travel funding.”

Project 2025 also hopes to “end the promotion and funding” of abortion organizations globally.

While Project 2025 does not endorse candidates, a CNN review found that at least 140 Trump staff members have ties to the organization, and six of his former Cabinet secretaries collaborated on the 900-page manifesto.

Trump has said he does “not know who is behind it” and has denied any connection with Project 2025.
