Arafat arrested, Hero Alam ready with sweets!

Former Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad A. Arafat was arrested by the police on Tuesday. Hero Alam, excited by this news, is going to Gulshan police station today with sweets. He also said that he will file a murder case against Arafat on Wednesday.

Hero Alam told our time, 'Arafat is very happy with the arrest. Today I am going to Gulshan police station with sweets. I will file a case of attempted murder in court tomorrow.'

Arafat became Member of Parliament (MP) after defeating Hero Alam in the Dhaka-17 constituency by-election on July 17 last year. Hero Alam was attacked in Banani of the parliamentary area on the day of polling. The attack on him was condemned by the diplomats of various countries, including Peter Haas, the then US ambassador to Dhaka. Various human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, also condemned it.

Mention, Arafat became the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting after he became an MP from the same seat in the 12th National Parliament Election. Mohammad A. Arafat went into hiding after Sheikh Hasina left the country after resigning from the post of Prime Minister on August 5. Later it was rumored that he had taken refuge in the French Embassy in Dhaka. However, the French embassy rejected this claim.

On August 12, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) ordered the seizure of Mohammad A. Arafat and his wife Sharmin Mustari's accounts.
