Aritri's suicide: 2 teacher's trial verdict today


Two teachers of the institution were sentenced today in the case of inciting Aritri Adhikari, a class nine student of Vikarunnisa Noon School and College, Bailey Road in the capital to commit suicide.

On Monday (May 3), Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge-12 Judge Abdullah Al Mamun's court will announce the verdict. Earlier, the date of four-point verdict was postponed.

The two accused in the case are Nazneen Ferdous and Zeenat Akhter. They are on bail.

Last year, on November 27, after presenting the arguments of the state and the accused, the court fixed the date of judgment on January 21. As the judgment was not ready on that day, the court decided to postpone it to February 8. But as the judgment was not ready that day, it was postponed to March 3. For the same reason, the court postponed it to April 9. April 9 was adjourned to May 3 for judgment.

Aritri's father Dilip Adhikari filed a case on December 4, 2018 as the plaintiff in Paltan police station of the capital.

On March 20, 2019, the investigating officer of the case, Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) Inspector Kamrul Hasan Talukdar filed a charge sheet accusing the two teachers. On July 10, 2019, the court framed charges against the two teachers.

The court accepted the testimony of 15 out of 18 witnesses in the case.
