Major General Ziaul Hasan, former Director General of National Telecommunication Monitoring Center – NTMC, has built a large amount of wealth in Jhalkathi. Fish enclosure, cow farm, nursery and luxury bungalows have been built over a large area in Pratappur village of Shekerhat Union in the name of Multipurpose Agro Farm. He also bought about three hundred bighas of land in some villages of Shekerhat Union.
He is the son of Pratappur village of Shekerhat Union of Jhalkathi Sadar Upazila. He is well known as Rab Tapu to the locals due to his power and various misdeeds. While holding several important positions during the previous government, he owned a large amount of wealth in his area.
Residents complained that he used to keep people in fear by monitoring with RAB to spread his influence. In 2016, he made an impact with RAB while buying properties worth crores of rupees including bungalow houses, fish and cattle farms, fruit orchards, arable land. Even though many people have not received the money for the land, they are afraid to open their mouths.

Locals said his Tasfia Multipurpose Agro Farm has 15 bighas of land in Pratappur village. After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5, the caretaker Mofiz ran away from this farm by hanging the lock. Since then the firm has been locked down.
Local residents said that an officer of Barisal RAB-8 used to come in a car and take care of this huge wealth. According to Ziaul, the officer used to buy the adjacent land at a nominal price to further increase this property. If someone refused to give land, they were beaten.
Nazmun Nahar's house is next to the Tasfia Multipurpose Agro Farm built on a 15-bigha property in Pratappur village. He said that he used to come to Ziaul area less. An officer who came in a Barisal RAB car looked after everything. The boundaries of this farm have been fenced by cutting trees from other people's land.

Abdus Chattar, assistant teacher of Pratappur, said, I have been a victim of Ziaul's outrage. Due to a disagreement with him, he called me from the Barisal RAB-8 office and said that there is a complaint that I am doing Jamaat-Shibir. So go there and meet. After that, when I informed another RAB member, I got rid of him.
Housewife Mithu Begum, who lives behind a two-storey bungalow house inside the farm, said that in 2016, Rab Ziaul took my 2 khata property inside her house but did not pay the price. Moreover, since the building's safety tank is constructed on my land, my road is filled with foul-smelling water.
Ziaul also has huge property in Kutubkathi village. Hriday Talukder, a resident of this area, said that there was a house and a small mosque on top of our 8 katha property. By order of Ziaul, Barisal RAB-8 Md. He sent an officer named Kamrul and demolished the house and mosque and gave 5 katha of land instead of 8 katha of property. Rab Kamrul beat my father because he did not agree to take this land. One side of him was bored by it. He cannot walk or work now. My 3 sisters fled from RAB for 3 years and were in Chittagong at that time.
In this way, Ziaul took possession of the land of Paritosh Gain, Prashant Mahuri and many others from the Hindu community of Kutubkathi village at a nominal price. Going to the surface, it can be seen that the boundaries of these lands have been marked with paved pillars.
