Two Bangladeshi youths were killed by BSF firing at Panchgarh's Tentulia border, ignoring the agreement to stop border killings. The incident took place in the 447 pillar area of the border under the jurisdiction of Ronchandi BGB camp on Tuesday (May 7) night.
The deceased Jalil (24) is the son of Junu Mia of Magura village of Sadar union of the upazila and Yasin Ali (23) is the son of Ketab Ali of Brahmatul village of Tiranihat union.
Panchagarh 18 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Juvayed Hasan confirmed the matter.
Locals, police and BGB said that on Tuesday morning, the locals saw the dead bodies of the two youths lying in the Dargasing border area of Ranchandi BGB camp in Tentulia upazila. Later they informed BGB and police. Meanwhile, the Indian BSF took the bodies of those youths to India. It is said that the deceased were trying to enter India by cutting the star to bring cattle illegally.
Tentulia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sujoy Kumar said, we have learned from the family and neighbors of the two victims that they were trying to bring cows illegally from India and the BSF shot them dead and took their bodies to India.
Lieutenant Colonel Juvayed Hasan said that we have not received any complaint from the families of the victims so far. We are looking at this.
